The Value Proposition Canvas is a simple strategic tool for entrepreneurs, startups, and corporate product teams, which provides a framework for understanding the jobs and needs of your primary customers, so that you can focus your efforts on the products and services they need most to solve the problems they're actually experiencing.

While we have a tendency to get laser-focused on solutions — a behaviour and attitude rewarded by corporate culture — in the context of entrepreneurship, it's often a terrible idea. The best product teams and the greatest entrepreneurs focus much more on problems than they do on solutions — you can always find a new solution, but it's a lot harder to find a real problem experienced by real people.

While the VPC is a great follow-up to the Business Model Canvas, it also works well with other strategic management and execution tools and processes.
